In short: INCY for computers is a free app for Windows, macOS and Linux. If you have not yet decided which VPN to put on a computer, start with the general breakdown. You download it from the developer’s page on GitHub: a regular PC needs incy-windows-setup.exe, a Mac needs the .dmg for its processor. INCY has no servers of its own: you add a service’s subscription link, pick a server and press connect. Below: which file to take, six setup steps, rules for Russian websites and a breakdown of errors on a PC.
The practical steps are below; if you'd rather skip the setup, Tainet VPN connects in a couple of minutes - through the Telegram bot or in your account on this site.
Where to download INCY for your computer and which file to pick
INCY has one publisher — LLC ITDEV — and two official download points for computers: the developer’s releases page on GitHub (INCY-DEV/incy-platforms) and the site incy.cc, which leads to the same place. Searching for “incy download” turns up plenty of look-alike sites that hand out their own builds and sell “keys” — don’t download from them: all of your traffic goes through the client, and a tampered build sees all of it. If your subscription is from Tainet, you won’t have to search at all: in the connection guide in your account, the “Download” button gives you the right file straight from the official page.
As of 8 November 2026 the current desktop version is INCY Desktop 3.9.0 (released on 18 October). Its files are:
| Computer | Which file to download |
|---|---|
| A regular Windows PC or laptop | incy-windows-setup.exe — the installer |
| Windows, if you’d rather not install it or have no admin rights to install | incy-windows-portable.zip — unpack it and run it from the folder |
| A Mac with Apple M1–M4 | incy-macos-arm64.dmg |
| A Mac with an Intel processor | incy-macos-intel.dmg |
| Linux | .deb, .rpm, .pkg.tar.zst or a portable .zip, x64 and arm64 builds |
Not sure which processor your Mac has? Open the Apple menu (the apple icon in the corner of the screen) → “About This Mac”: the “Chip” line says Apple M1, M2 and so on, while Intel models show “Processor … Intel”. There is also an App Store version of INCY for Mac; if your store doesn’t show it, install the .dmg — it’s the same app.
The developer’s file links are permanent: an address like releases/latest/download/incy-windows-setup.exe always serves the latest version, so a bookmark to it never goes stale.
How to set up INCY on Windows: six steps
- Download the installer
incy-windows-setup.exe— from the releases page or with the “Download” button in the connection guide in your account. - Run it and follow the installer. Your antivirus may get nervous — VPN clients change the computer’s network settings, and many security programs react to that. It’s a false positive: allow the installation. If the antivirus deleted the file, add the INCY folder to its exclusions and install again.
- Copy the subscription link — in your account: on the dashboard open the “All keys” section and click “Copy link”. It’s the same link as on your phone; you don’t need a separate one for the computer. Why a key, a config and a subscription mean the same thing is explained in the piece on what a VPN key is.
- Add the subscription to INCY. Open the app, press ”+” and paste the link from the clipboard. The profile with the list of servers loads by itself. There’s a shorter path: in the connection guide in your account, the “Add subscription” button opens INCY with the link already in it — if the browser asks whether to open the app, allow it.
- Pick a server. The icon at the start of the line tells you which one to take. In a Tainet subscription ⚡ is a direct route (the fastest, usually fine for home internet), 🛡 is an entry through a server in Russia (comes up where the direct one stays silent), 🎮 is a route for video and games with lower latency, and ⚪ is a backup entry with a traffic limit. Go down the list until you find one that works.
- Press the connect button. On the first connection Windows asks for firewall permission — allow it, otherwise the connection won’t be established.
The portable version is set up the same way, except that instead of installing you unpack the archive into any folder and run INCY from there. Keep in mind that in the “Downloads” folder it’s easy to delete along with the rest of the clutter — better put it in a folder of its own.
What INCY can do on a computer
Desktop INCY has the same minimal interface with one big button as on a phone, but behind it there are a few features that come in handy more often on a PC:
- Kill Switch — if the connection drops, INCY cuts off the internet until it’s back. Traffic doesn’t leak past the connection without you noticing.
- Routing and per-app proxy — you can decide which sites and which programs go through the connection and which go directly.
- Automatic subscription updates — the list of servers refreshes by itself; you don’t need to touch it.
- Sharing with other devices — INCY can run a SOCKS5/HTTP gateway on the computer for devices connected to it over a Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Protocols — VLESS with REALITY, VMess, Trojan, Shadowsocks, Hysteria2, WireGuard and AmneziaWG; a Tainet subscription provides the right ones itself, so you won’t have to pick a protocol by hand.
A typical situation on a PC: everything works in the browser, while another program behaves as if there’s no connection. First check whether routing has a “direct” rule for it — and turn off proxy extensions in the browser: two mechanisms deciding where to send traffic at the same time conflict.
Tainet VPN — a subscription that works in any client in this table: copy the link, paste it, connect. Signing up takes 30 seconds in the Telegram bot or in your account on this site, the first 7 days are free, then from $0.10 a day — enough to try the clients out and settle on the one you like.
Try it →Russian websites directly, everything else through the connection
A common question from computer users: “I turned on INCY and my bank’s site behaves differently than without the connection.” The reason is that all traffic, including Russian websites, goes through a server abroad. Routing rules solve this, and you don’t need to build them by hand.
The connection guide in your account has a “Send Russian sites around the VPN” step with an “Apply the rules” button. Press it and INCY gets a ready set: the .ru and .рф zones, banks, Gosuslugi, Russian services and their content delivery networks, plus your local network — router, printer, TV — go directly, everything else through the connection. Ads are filtered out along the way. If you need to add your own addresses, there’s a “Your own rules” button right there.
🔴 Turn these rules on only if you are in Russia yourself. Abroad they will take away access to Russian banks and Gosuslugi: those let you in from a Russian address, and directly you’d have a foreign one.
INCY on Mac and Linux: what’s different
Mac. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag INCY into the Applications folder. From there it’s the same as on Windows: ”+”, the link from the clipboard, pick a server, connect. On the first connection macOS asks you to allow adding a VPN configuration — allow it; it’s a system prompt and appears once. If the Mac says the app was downloaded from the internet and won’t let you open it, right-click it → “Open”. A general breakdown of how to set up a VPN on a MacBook is separate.
Linux. For Ubuntu, Debian and Mint take the .deb, for Fedora the .rpm, for Arch and Manjaro the .pkg.tar.zst; if you’d rather not install it into the system, there’s a portable .zip. A regular computer needs the x64 build, ARM machines need arm64. The .deb package installs with a double click through the app store or with sudo dpkg -i incy-linux-x64.deb. On the first connection the system may ask for the administrator password — the app needs the right to change network settings.
What to do when INCY on a PC won’t connect
First, the things that solve most cases: turn off other VPN clients and browser proxy extensions, refresh the subscription and switch the server. In more detail by symptom:
Connected, but no internet
Switch to another server in the list — it takes seconds. Then refresh the subscription with the refresh button next to its name: servers come from the subscription and change, and a stale list looks exactly like this — the lines are there, but none of them connects.
The subscription won’t add
Check that the link was copied in full: subscription links are long, and copying from a messenger often loses the tail. Take it again in your account with the “Copy link” button.
The connection doesn’t come up at all
Most likely the Windows firewall or your antivirus didn’t let INCY onto the network. Open “Settings” → “Privacy & security” → “Windows Security” → “Firewall & network protection” → “Allow an app through firewall” and check that INCY is in the list and ticked. If you have a third-party antivirus with its own firewall, add INCY to its exclusions.
Works at home, but not at the office or on another connection
It’s the network itself, not the app: different providers let different things through. Change the route type rather than the client — from ⚡ direct to 🛡 an entry through a server in Russia, then to ⚪ the backup.
Had Happ, installed INCY — and nothing works
Two clients switched on at the same time conflict. Turn off Happ (or uninstall it), restart INCY and connect again. You don’t need to move the subscription — the link is the same, and its term isn’t tied to the app.
Didn’t help — write to support or to the Telegram bot: at Tainet an AI assistant answers, and a real person joins on request; a screenshot of the INCY window with the error text speeds things up. Step-by-step INCY setup on a phone and TV is in a separate article.
What to use instead of INCY on a computer
The subscription isn’t tied to the app: the same link works in another client. If INCY won’t run on a particular computer, install Happ — Happ on a Windows or Mac computer is covered in the same detail, including TUN mode. A comparison of VPN clients for every system helps you choose between them. And if there are many computers and TVs at home, it’s simpler to put the subscription on the router: how to do that is in the router guide; what other devices the connection runs on is a separate overview.
Frequently asked questions
Is INCY for PC free?
Yes, the app is free on every platform, including Windows, macOS and Linux. You pay only for the subscription of the service you connect to: at Tainet the first 7 days are free, with no card.
Where do I download INCY for Windows?
Only from the developer’s releases page on GitHub (INCY-DEV/incy-platforms) or via the site incy.cc. The file you need is incy-windows-setup.exe; without installing — incy-windows-portable.zip.
Do I need a separate subscription for the computer?
No. There’s one link per account, and devices are added in your account: up to 5 on “Basic”, up to 30 on “Family”, up to 100 on “Team”. The computer is one of the devices — pick it in the “Add subscription” step.
Which INCY desktop version is current?
As of 8 November 2026 — INCY Desktop 3.9.0. The releases/latest link on GitHub always serves the latest one, so it’s enough to download the file again and install it over the old one.
Can I keep INCY and Happ on the computer at the same time?
Installed — yes, switched on — no: two running clients fight over the network settings. Use one and keep the other off.
INCY or Happ for a computer — which to choose?
Both work with the same subscription and the same protocols; the difference is in character: INCY is more minimal, Happ has been around longer and is familiar to many. It’s one subscription — try both and keep whichever suits you.
Need a subscription that makes INCY work on your computer the first time? With Tainet the link is added to the app with a button from the connection guide, and the "Russian websites directly" rules with a second one. Get it in the Telegram bot or in your personal account on this site: the first 7 days are free, then from 8 ₽ a day, one subscription for your computer, phone and TV. How a trial period with no card works. Won't connect — write to support and include a screenshot of the error from INCY.
